New Book "The Xinjiang Procedure"
Ethan Gutmann is a China analyst and human-rights investigator, currently serving as a Senior Research Fellow in China Studies at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation and as co-founder of the International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse in China (ETAC). His work has appeared in major publications including the Wall Street Journal Asia, The Weekly Standard, National Review, and Investor’s Business Daily. He has briefed institutions such as the United States Congress, the CIA, the European Parliament, and the United Nations, and has testified before government bodies around the world.
A former foreign-policy analyst at the Brookings Institution, Mr. Gutmann has also appeared on PBS, CNN, BBC, and CNBC. In 2017, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Mr. Gutmann’s research has long focused on Chinese state practices, including internet surveillance, the Laogai system, and the complex relationship between Western business and Chinese security policy. His first book, Losing the New China, was published in 2004, followed by The Slaughter in 2014, and the widely cited investigative report Bloody Harvest/The Slaughter: An Update in 2016.
